A New Month...

February was an adventure at our house. Josh had 2 week long business trips. I am happy to say we survive and actually did quite well. Toward the end of the 2nd week I started to get pretty wiped out, but we did it!!! We are so lucky to
have so much family to help! I could not have done it without them.

Eli and Quincy are currently eating quite the variety of foods. Breakfast usually starts with either rice or oatmeal cereal, fruit and a bottle. They are eating bananas, apples, and pears.
Lunch is 2 veggies and a fruit with a bottle. Veggies we have started are sweet potatoes, squash, avocado, peas and green beans. I am amazed at how conflicting all the information is out there, so we are using a little bit of everything and what the babies are liking. This weekend I hope to make two new foods - peaches and carrots. Right now the grocery stores doesn't exactly have a wide variety of organic fresh produce!! Thank goodness we have Costco. I just wish we had a Trader Joes!
Oh- dinner is fruit, veggies, cereal and a bottle. (Balanced is my goal!)
Overall, making and freezing the food is quite easy. It takes a little time but I usually prepare what I am making during the day or while I am making dinner, let it cool and puree it the next morning. I haven't got quanities down quite yet, but I am getting better. I usually make about 30-35 servings of an ingredient at a time and that about a week for twins.
Green beans and peas were the most difficult to make because they had a kind of "shell" for lack of a better word. We are still trying to make them enjoyable. Right now, if you add them to squash or sweet potatoes they love them. Yes, sweet potoes and pears seem to be the favorite right now.
They have eaten a little jarred baby food, so that they would in a pinch, but other than that I have made everything. And it has been fun.
